Environmental labeling
, first introduced in Germany in the late 1970s, has since been adopted by over 30 countries and regions, including Japan, Canada, the Nordic countries, the EU, and Korea. By providing clear, easy-to-understand labels, it helps consumers make environmentally responsible choices while encouraging manufacturers to produce sustainable products. Third-party certification ensures credibility, guiding consumers toward genuinely eco-friendly products and rewarding companies committed to environmental protection.

As a market-based tool for pollution prevention and sustainable consumption, environmental labeling continues to expand globally. While differing national standards can pose challenges for international trade, most countries have reached a consensus on mutual recognition of certified products. Driven by both consumer demand and environmental priorities, the international harmonization of environmental labels is becoming a key development trend.
